ನಮ್ಮ ಇತಿಹಾಸ

1994 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾದ ಸಂಗಮ ಹಲವು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಗ್ರೇಟರ್ ಪಿಟ್ಸ್ಬರ್ಗ್ ಏರಿಯಾದ ಸುತ್ತ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲು ಇದು ವೇದಿಕೆ ಆಯಿತು. ಇಂದಿನ ಯುವ ಪೀಳಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲಿಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬಯಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ, ಹೊಸ ತಲೆಮಾರಿನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು, ಓದಲು ಮತ್ತು ಬರೆಯಲು ಕಲಿಯಲು ಬಯಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕಳೆದ ಹಲವಾರು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪಠ್ಯಕ್ರಮದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೆಲವು ತರಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಕನ್ನಡ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡು ರಚನಾತ್ಮಕ ಪಠ್ಯಕ್ರಮದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ ತರಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಈ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ (2020) ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು.

Sangama, established in 1994, has hosted numerous cultural and community events over the years and has grown into a vibrant platform for Kannadigas across the Greater Pittsburgh area to showcase their talents and celebrate their heritage.

Today, there is a renewed interest among families to ensure that the younger generation stays connected to Kannada language and culture. Parents are eager for their children to learn to speak, read, and write Kannada, while children themselves show enthusiasm in embracing their linguistic roots.

In previous years, Kannada classes were conducted using curricula selected by individual teachers. Recognizing the need for a more consistent and comprehensive learning approach, Sangama, in collaboration with the Kannada Academy, introduced structured Kannada language classes with a standardized curriculum starting in 2020. This initiative aims to provide a strong foundation in Kannada education and support long-term language learning for future generations.
